Rachele Somaschini has made history once again by clinching the 2024 TER – Tour European Rally (TER) championship. Driving her Citroën C3 Rally2, Somaschini, alongside co-drivers Nicola Arena and Fabio Salis, delivered an incredible season, culminating in her first overall series victory.
Somaschini’s triumph comes after a memorable win at Rally Fthiotidos, adding to her impressive résumé, which already includes two TER Ladies Trophy titles. This latest victory not only solidifies her reputation as one of the sport’s top talents but also marks a significant milestone for female drivers in rallying.
The 2024 championship concluded earlier than planned after the final round, the Azores Rallye, was cancelled by event organisers. As a result, Somaschini topped the final standings with 63 points, securing the title and making her the undisputed champion of this innovative rally series.
Italian duo Paolo Raviglione and Alessandro Rappoldi finished second overall with 45 points. Although they also clinched the TER 2WD title, the cancellation of the Azores Rallye denied them the opportunity to challenge for the overall championship.
The final spot on the 2024 TER podium went to Spanish crew Nicolás Cabanes and Javi Moltò, who finished the season tied on 33 points with two other teams.
