Organisers of Secto Rally Finland have unveiled a thrilling new-look itinerary for this year’s 73rd edition from July 31-3 August, featuring the return of legendary roads and a fresh take on Super Sunday.
Based in Jyväskylä—the home of defending manufacturers’ champions Toyota GAZOO Racing—the FIA World Rally Championship’s (WRC) fastest event kicks off on Thursday (July 31) and ends on Sunday (August 3) after 20 stages of competition.

The event’s showstopper serves as the final two stages of the event on Sunday afternoon. For the first time in WRC history, an entire rally day is dedicated to the world-renowned Ouninpohja stage.
Sunday, dubbed ‘Ouninday’ by organizers, features two runs through the monstrous 23.98km test, with the second pass doubling as the bonus points-paying Wolf Power Stage. Podium celebrations will follow in nearby Kakaristo.
Ouninpohja’s storied history is marked by moments of extraordinary driving prowess. Over the years, this iconic rally stage’s length has changed – some the entire 30-odd kilometers and others more than 10km shorter.
In 2004, a monumental moment unfolded when Petter Solberg set a blistering pace to clock a stage record of 15 minutes 18.5 seconds, marking the fastest time ever achieved on the 33.24km-long version of Ouninpohja. This record not only demonstrated Solberg’s exceptional driving talent but also solidified the stage’s reputation as a true test of speed and skill in the rally world.
“We wanted to find a way to make this legendary stage as accessible as possible for fans, and we believe this is the perfect solution,” explained Clerk of the Course Kai Tarkiainen. “There’s plenty of space along the stage, giving fans time to find the best viewing spots and enjoy the entire day. It also makes providing services much easier.
“Designing the route is balancing between several factors. The most important considerations are safety and sporting integrity, but of course, we also aim to create a great experience for both on-site spectators and TV production,” he added.
This year, Ouninpohja is 23.98km, the longest it has been since 2013. What a thrilling way to finish off this truly epic WRC round.
