In an exciting announcement tied to the 2024 Rallye de Charlevoix, set to take place this weekend, organizers confirmed that the overall winner of this year’s event will be granted entry to the 2025 Polar Rallycross at the Grand Prix of Trois-Rivières (GP3R) in January 2025. This prestigious invitation serves as a testament to the deepening collaboration between two of Canada’s most iconic motorsport events.

The invitation includes free registration for the event—provided a minimum of eight competitors sign up—and promises the Rallye de Charlevoix victor a spot in a support race at the FIA World Rallycross Championship. This exciting competition will feature vehicles similar to those that thrill fans in Charlevoix. Scheduled for January 24-25, 2025, the Polar Rallycross will take place on the ice track at the Trois-Rivières racetrack, a unique event that marks the FIA World Rallycross Championship’s long-awaited return to North America.

This weekend’s Rallye de Charlevoix marks the 31st edition of the storied race, a key fixture in the North American Rally Cup, the Canadian Rally Championship, and the Eastern Canadian and Quebec Championships. With 32 teams competing, fans can expect a fierce showdown when the rally kicks off on Friday, November 1, at 7:30 p.m. in La Malbaie.

Philippe Brasseur, President of the Rallye de Charlevoix, expressed his enthusiasm:

“We are thrilled with this partnership with GP3R. This prize for the Rallye de Charlevoix 2024 winner is a wonderful symbol of collaboration between two major Canadian sports events. We look forward to seeing the winner of our 2024 edition compete on the ice at GP3R’s Polar Rallycross in January.”

Dominic Fugère, General Manager of the GP3R and currently attending the Rallye de Charlevoix, emphasized the significance of this collaboration:

“The return of the FIA World Rallycross Championship is a significant milestone for the Grand Prix of Trois-Rivières. It will be a technological challenge, with electric-powered and biofuel-driven vehicles taking center stage. We also wanted the support races to be spectacular for fans at the Trois-Rivières racetrack. Including rally cars in one of these categories makes sense, and having the Rallye de Charlevoix winner—who represents the best rally drivers in Canada this weekend—join us on the track is ideal. Additionally, the Rallye de Charlevoix winner is guaranteed to start in pole position for the final in their category!”

The Rallye de Charlevoix and the GP3R collaboration signals a promising future for Canadian motorsport, bringing fans thrilling events while bridging different facets of rallying and rallycross.
