Since its inception in 1953, the BTRDA Gold and Silver Star Rally Championships have symbolized excellence in British rallying. These prestigious “Stars” are badges of honor, proudly displayed by drivers whose skill and determination have set them apart. More recently, the Bronze Star Championship for 1400cc cars has added to this legacy, fueling fierce competition across the series. The 2025 PROTYRE BTRDA Rally Series is set to continue this tradition with an exciting eight-event calendar that promises to test and thrill participants.

The 2025 season kicks off with a return to the scenic Lake District for the Malcolm Wilson Rally, a one-day event steeped in tradition. Welshpool’s Rally North Wales, a new addition to the series, follows in late March, bringing fresh routes and challenges. The Border Counties Rally, a fan favorite and recipient of the Bill Turner Trophy for Best Event in 2022, will take place in the lush Tweed Valley.

After the spring rounds, the series heads to Builth Wells for the renowned Nicky Grist Stages, marking the start of summer. Following a brief hiatus, the season resumes with the Woodpecker Stages, before moving to North Yorkshire’s rugged Trackrod Forest Stages in late September. The Cambrian Rally in North Wales draws drivers back into the forests in October. The Grizedale Stages, traditionally part of the Motorsport UK English Rally Championship, will close the season in December, solidifying the event’s place as the Series finale.

Neil Cross, BTRDA Rallies Committee Chair, shared his excitement about the upcoming season: “Maintaining the BTRDA’s ethos of ‘Serious Fun,’ we’re pleased to reveal our 2025 calendar. We hope it provides another challenging year of forest stage rallying for our competitors, old and new.”

The 2024 season left a remarkable legacy, with Elliot Payne clinching his third consecutive BTRDA Gold Star Rally Championship title, becoming the first driver to achieve this feat. Payne joins the ranks of Matthew Robinson, who took home three consecutive Silver Star titles from 2012 to 2014 with his Escort Mk2.

For those eager to join the action, the 2025 BTRDA Series is open to vehicles meeting the current Motorsport UK technical regulations, with detailed championship regulations scheduled for release in December.

This season is set to be one of the most exciting yet, combining historic stages with new additions that will challenge seasoned veterans and newcomers alike. The countdown to the 2025 season has begun—let the “Serious Fun” begin!
