The latest edition of the Rally Show Santa Domenica wrapped up in spectacular fashion, leaving fans and competitors alike buzzing from the excitement. This year, the event expanded from two to three days, incorporating numerous innovations that set it apart from previous years.
Event kickoff with flair
The festivities began on Friday, November 22, with the administrative aspects of the rally followed by a ceremonial start in Sveta Nedelja’s main square. This year featured a new rotating ramp and traditional fireworks, enhancing the spectator experience. Although anticipated weather conditions were favorable, the participants instead faced challenging rain and sleet, setting the stage for an unpredictable weekend.
A night to remember
Saturday was a highlight with the ‘Savršćak by Night’ stages, where cars dazzled under special lighting and fireworks, creating a magical atmosphere. Simon Wagner, chasing his third victory at Savršćak, showed early dominance but faced stiff competition from the Hungarian team of Martin Laszlo and Viktor Ban, who kept the pressure tight, ending the day just one second behind Wagner.
Sunlit showdown
Sunday’s races commenced with bright skies for the ‘Savršćak Arena’ special stage. Hungarian drivers Ádám Velenczei and Péter Ranga threw down the gauntlet, with Velenczei snatching a brief lead by a mere 0.1 seconds. Wagner, however, was not to be outdone, reclaiming the lead in the penultimate stage and entering the final stage with a comfortable cushion. Despite finishing third in the last stage, Wagner’s earlier performance secured his overall victory by a narrow margin.
Stellar performances
The event showcased not just the leaders but also strong performances throughout the field. The sunny weather and unusually warm temperatures added to the event’s high spirits, delighting the large crowd. Matteo Bernini was the top Croatian driver, securing a commendable tenth place overall.
