The 2025 Italian Rally Trophy (TIR) is set to undergo a significant transformation, introducing a fresh format, an expanded calendar, and new races. The series will now feature two groups of three rounds each, plus three high-stakes “joker” races with an increased coefficient of 1.5. Competitors will be free to choose their tyres and suppliers, with only five event participations required to compete for the TIR 2025 title.
The New Format
The 2025 Italian Rally Trophy will consist of nine races in total:
- Group A: Three rounds
- Group B: Three rounds
- Coefficient 1.5 Races: Three “joker” rounds with a 1.5x points multiplier
While competitors can participate in all nine races, the results from Group A and Group B will not be cumulative. Each driver will count their best two results from one of the two groups, plus the points earned from the coefficient 1.5 races. However, one result from the coefficient 1.5 races must be discarded, regardless of how many of these races a driver enters.
This innovative structure ensures that strategic planning and performance consistency will be key to securing the championship.
