Current Rookie and Junior New Zealand Rally Champion, Matt Jansen, has wrapped up his second season in the New Zealand Rally Championship [NZRC] with an excellent 4th place finish at the final round – the TrustHouse Racetech Rally Wairarapa this weekend – September 11 – 12.

Matt and Co-driver Jason Farmer consistently climbed the leaderboard throughout the 13 stage rally, and having overnighted in 9th place, stepped up their pace throughout Day Two to move their MITECH WELDERS Subaru into 4th on the very last stage.

“We have finally found the level of performance we have been striving for all season,” said a very happy Matt, “and can now say we are back where we wanted, and expected, to be after last year’s highly successful debut season.”

This season-best result, particularly after a strong showing at the previous round at Nelson 3 weeks ago, shot the 22 year old Cantabrian up into 6th place in the final NZRC standings for 2010.

“We never quite got ourselves onto that all-important podium pace that is our current NZRC goal, but we know that with further refinements and experience we can make it.

“Jason has done a brilliant job writing and calling the [pace] notes all year and we have developed our in-car relationship to such an extent that we have full confidence in each other, so much so that things happen quite automatically now.

“It really is a great reward for the whole PMT Motorsport Team, that all the hours the guys have given so freely and enthusiastically have proved to be worthwhile, and we can now look forward to next year with a great deal of confidence.

“We will spend the Off-Season going over all aspects of what did and didn’t work for us this year, and we have a number of exciting options that we are very keen to pursue for 2011.”
