After seven successful years together, Patrik Sandell and Emil Axelsson announced they will go their separate ways in 2011.
“We’ve been a great team for several years and have won a lot together,” says Patrik Sandell. “But, for a while we’ve been discussing what we could do to develop even more individually and we came to the conclusion that we both wanted to see what happened if we made this change.”
Sandell and Axelsson won the Junior World Rally Championship in 2006, and silver in Super 2000 World Rally Championship in 2010.
“We’ve had a long, fun and successful collaboration together, and it feels great that we could end it on a high note,” says Emil Axelsson.
Axelsson is now teaming up with P-G. Andersson for the IRC’s Monte Carlo Rally, while Sandell will be joined by Staffan Parmander as a co-driver for WRC Rally Sweden in February.
