Dominic Scott took a very strong 6th in class on the Chepstow based Wyedean Rally – the first time the youngster has competed in his new MGZR S1400 plus the first time he’s driven on the gravel event.
The 17 year old is starting his first full season competing in the BTRDA Rally Series after contesting a few events in Latvia in 2009 and 2010 – including being the youngest person to drive in the Gulbis Rally in Latvia, aged just 14.
This season is all about learning the car and developing his abilities. Co-Driven by Ludlow navigator, James Bailey, the pair are contesting the full championship in the car being run by 2006 BTRDA 1400 Champion Neil Weaver, also from Ludlow, and his preparation company Weaver Motorsport.
“I managed to get a car and deal together to do the Cambrian Rally back in October and since then I’ve worked really hard to sort out this year. It’s great to have the experience of Neil on board to help me develop”.
The next event for Dom and James will be the Malcolm Wilson Rally, based in the Lake District town of Cockermouth. The event will see them tackle the famous forests around Grizedale in their bid to gain more experience and take the title challenge.
“I’m looking forward to getting more experience and really showing what I can do. I can’t wait to get back out in the car!”
