17-year-old student Osian Pryce and co-driver Craig Parry enjoyed a successful return to the Latvian Rally Championship when the pair finished the recent Rally Latgale in 23rd position and second in class despite their Ford Fiesta running against far more powerful cars for the weekend.

Aberangell based Pryce has most recently been competing in the U.K but returned to Latvia with one aim: to finish the rally and pick up his international competition licence and as such the young talent chose to drive conservatively. Despite this, the high speed nature of the stages suited Osian’s driving style and at the end of one of the longer tests he commented on seeing the top speed of the Fiesta ST on one particularly fast section!

“What an awesome rally,” said Osian. “Craig and I came here focused on finishing but everything just worked out so well. At one stage we were flat in top gear and it was just an incredible feeling! The stages were fantastic and although it took me a while to adapt back to my own pace notes everything worked well!”

By finishing Rally Latgale Pryce has now qualified for his international rallying licence. This allows him to compete in the World Rally Championship and Pryce is now targeting an entry on Wales Rally GB in November. This, however, depends on whether he can find the funding or not.
