The reining Estonian champion in Group N and the winner of Saaremaa Rally 2008 Ott Tänak will start with Ford Fiesta Super 2000 in 43rd of Saaremaa Rally on 8-9th of October. Before Rally Saaremaa Ott and his co-driver Kuldar Sikk will have a chance to test the car in Finnsco Rally, which is the last round of Finnish championship.
Ott Tänak: “I think Saaremaa Rally will be once again very interesting. There are places where Group N cars will have an advantage and also many places, which will suit better for the S2000 cars. As we have seen in World Championship, S2000 cars are faster, but we will see. It will be interesting to compare times in the first stages. I’m looking forward to my home rally.”
Competition in Group N will be very tough. Besides local heroes and fast drivers from Latvia and Finland also the Norwegian champion in Group N, Sveinung Bieldvedt will be participating in Rally Saaremaa.
One part of 43rd of Saaremaa Rally is an exhibition “Estonian Motorsport Through Times” in Kuressaare Culture Center. There are displayed old race cars, motorcycles and race gears. Next year Estonian motorsport will be already 90 years old and that exhibition is an introduction to the jubilee year.
The 43rd of Saaremaa Rally will take place on 8-9th of October. It is Estonian Championship final race, FIA NEZ Cup and Baltic Rally final championship race. Race track is 525 km and stages are 115 km.
