The South African National Rally Championship (NRC) is gearing up for an electrifying finale at the 2024 TRACN4 Rally, set to take place on November 15-16 in the picturesque town of Dullstroom, Mpumalanga.
Known for its thrilling competition, challenging terrain, and lively local culture, the TRACN4 Rally is one of the most anticipated events of the year. This marks the fifth consecutive year that Dullstroom, nestled in the scenic eMakhazeni region, hosts this motorsport spectacle. With each edition, the rally has grown in prestige, drawing top drivers, teams, and fans from across the country, all eager to witness the conclusion of the 2024 NRC season. Backed by long-standing and new sponsors, the event is shaping up to be a truly unforgettable experience.
As the final leg of the NRC, the TRACN4 Rally is steeped in history, serving as the capstone of South Africa’s longest-running motorsport championship. Since kicking off in May, this year’s championship has seen fierce battles and unexpected twists, setting the stage for an intense showdown in Dullstroom. With defending champion Chris Coertse leading the pack, it’s all or nothing as the teams prepare to ‘Go All Out’—the rally’s fitting theme for 2024.
Spanning two action-packed days, the 2024 TRACN4 Rally will feature roughly 160km of competitive stages that test speed, strategy, and stamina. Drivers will face off on some of Mpumalanga’s toughest forest roads, famous for their technical demands, tight corners, and ever-changing surfaces. More than just a motorsport event, the TRACN4 Rally has become a cornerstone of the eMakhazeni community. Since 2020, the rally has been instrumental in supporting local initiatives, including the Dullstroom Epilepsy Centre, which serves as the Mpumalanga headquarters for Epilepsy South Africa. Proceeds from the rally go directly to the centre, providing vital support for individuals and families living with epilepsy.
The rally’s economic impact is also substantial, driving tourism and boosting local businesses in Dullstroom and Belfast. With visitors flocking to the area for the event, hotels, restaurants, craft shops, and tour operators all benefit, while temporary jobs created by the rally offer further support to the local economy.
The rally stages, made possible by Safcol and S&N Boerdery, feature some of the most challenging forest roads in South Africa. With tight, twisty sections and a mix of surfaces, drivers will need precision and focus to conquer these routes. The technical demands of the stages make the TRACN4 Rally a true test of skill, ensuring spectacular racing for fans and teams alike.
Spectator zones will be set up at prime locations along the course, giving fans the best view of the high-octane action. These vantage points will be announced on TRAC’s and NRC’s social media channels, as well as in the official TRACN4 Rally Programme, available one week before the event.
This year, fans can look forward to the debut of the new NRC 1 VW Polos, which were absent from the 2023 championship. The 2024 TRACN4 Rally will also focus on enhancing fan engagement, with increased social media coverage and improved spectator facilities to ensure an even more immersive experience.
