Giovanni Trentin, representing ACI Team Italia, is gearing up for back-to-back challenges on asphalt as he wraps up his 2024 season. Over the coming weeks, Trentin will compete across Slovenia and Croatia, driving the Opel Corsa Rally4. His next assignment is the Rally Soča Valley this weekend.
Following his recent debut at Rally Nova Gorica, Trentin continues his learning curve on asphalt surfaces. Piloting the Corsa Rally4, adorned with #23 and provided by IK Sport in collaboration with Lorenzon Racing, Trentin will be co-driven by Danilo Fappani. This weekend’s 4th edition of the Rally Soča Valley marks the sixth round of the Slovenian Rally Championship. The event will see competitors take on eight special stages scheduled exclusively for Saturday, October 19, covering 85 kilometres of timed sections.
The opening loop includes two stages, Sončna (6.32 km) and Gora Rocka (14.09 km). Sončna will be run twice in the morning, while Gora Rocka will be tackled again before midday. The competition then moves to the Kolovrat (10.54 km) and Breginjski Kot (9.41 km) stages in the afternoon, each run twice.
Trentin, who hails from Treviso, expects a tough challenge as the asphalt roads will likely be unpredictable, influenced by the changing weather conditions. His focus remains on accumulating kilometres and gaining experience on the surface ahead of future rallies. Beyond the Rally Soča Valley, Trentin will participate in two more events: the 25th Rally Poreč in Croatia during the first weekend of November, followed by Rally Idrija back in Slovenia on November 10.
“Thanks to MT Racing, ACI Team Italia, Movisport, and all our partners,” Trentin said. “It’s thanks to them that we’ve been given the opportunity to take part in three important rallies across two national championships. These events are a great chance for me to grow on asphalt, as most of my experience has been on gravel and snow. We’ll be competing against top contenders from each series, including the leading drivers from various junior categories. The end of 2024 will be crucial for us.”
As Trentin sharpens his asphalt skills, these rallies mark an important step in his career development, setting the foundation for even greater success in the future.
