Writing of her experiences from the co-drivers’ seat, Josefine Corinn Beinke brings us her unique and entertaining adventures for HANDBRAKES & HAIRPINS’ “Ladies in Rallying” campaign.
Josefine Corinn Beinke relates to us this week of her Rallye Niedersachsen weekend: In the recent Rallye Niedersachsen in Germany, FSTi competitors Christian Riedemann and Josefine Corinn Beinke (Ford Fiesta R2) were able to finish the challening rally for the first time with their new car.
“Having a lot of bad luck in the last month, we are very happy about the result from this event and we can look back on it with a good feeling for the upcoming rallies.
“The Rallye Niedersachsen took place in Osterode am Harz, with eleven special stages that comprised of a lot of fast roads and very hot temperatures of about 36°C.
“Starting the rally with the same brake problems as in Sulingen, Team Riedemann/Beinke was, nevertheless, able to set stage times in the top ten. Although the stages were very fast and did not perfectly suit our Ford Fiesta R2, as it doesn’t have more than 165hp, we still managed to set the second fastest stage time through SS11.
“The hot temperatures was very difficult to handle, but Christian and I managed to concentrate and maintain our speed until the very last stage.
“In the end, a 4th place overall and a Class win was more than we expected before the rally start. Regarding this great result, we are looking forward to the upcoming rallies with a pretty good feeling. It gives us a lot of self-confidence, and it was very important for us as a team to finish this rally. The Rallye Niedersachsen was for the team a test for the asphalt rallies for the Fiesta SportTrophy International series.
“Unfortunately, the problem with the brakes has still not been solved, but hopefully it’s going to be before the WRC Rally Germany. The next rally for us is the WRC Neste Oil Rally Finland at the end of this month, and it counts for the Fiesta SportTrophy International Championship. The team is confident to score our first points of the championship there, but the highest intention, as was also the case in Portugal, is to finish the rally.
