T. Hanson Motorsports has been invited to compete in Rally Car Racing at X Games 16 in Los Angeles, California from 29 July to 1 August. This will be driver Travis Hanson’s second appearance at the X Games.

“I am really excited to be invited back to X Games. When we were invited in 2008 I thought it was a once in a lifetime experience. To have another shot at competing on this amazing stage is a icing on the cake of such a prosperous championship season for my team.”

X Games is the premier event in the extreme sports world and sets the stage for competition across many sports including skateboarding, BMX, motocross, and many others. Rally Car Racing for X Games 16 will be held in the historic LA Coliseum, where two drivers will go head-to-head with each other on a course full of hairpins, fast straights, and big jumps.

“The competition is going to be really strong this year. The best drivers from North America and around the world will push hard for Gold. An invitation to compete is an honor with only twelve of the best drivers invited. Hanson will be competing with the big names in action sports like Travis Pastrana, Ken Block, Dave Mirra, and former Indy 500 winner Kenny Brack.

Hanson’s team is as grassroots as they come, with Travis running the team with the help of his father/co-driver, Terry Hanson. They compete with a white 2007 Subaru WRX STi, not far removed from the same one that can be bought off the sales-lot. They are truly a “peoples” team proving this 2010 Rally season that a privateer team can catch some of manufacturer back big names. Travis represents the majority of rally teams with no major funding, but unlike most drivers he also has managed to perfect his driving and team management in order to compete at the top level.

Despite Hanson’s success this year in the Rally America Series with three first place in-Class finishes, the team is still in search of a major sponsor. “With X Games right around the corner, we are working really hard for some sponsorship. Any help we receive is definitely going to make us more competitive.”

Hanson has performed brilliantly this season and looks towards heading to the X Games at the end of the month. Until then, Hanson has his eye on the New England Forest Rally in Maine, this weekend, where a good position will seal the Super Production championship and set him up for a promising show at X Games 16.
