Dubliner Gareth MacHale (Ford Focus WRC) leads the WRC section of the Ulster Rally, and is just under ten seconds ahead of Derek McGarrity (Subaru Impreza WRC) while Aaron MacHale (Ford Focus WRC) lies third.

Craig Breen (Ford Fiesta S2000) has a sixteen second advantage over Keith Cronin (Subaru Impreza N15) in the Rally NI part. Welshman Gwyndaf Evans (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X) is third and Alastair Fisher (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX) is in fourth place overall.

Rally NI leader Craig Breen said: “I took it easy on SS1 as the stage was so fast and my car was on the rev limiter in top gear quite a lot. That was one of my best stages ever and the car was perfect, we had a big push as I remembered the stage from two years ago. We’ve settled in and are very happy to be in the lead.”
