With just a week to go, the 22nd edition of Rallylegend is set to light up the Republic of San Marino from 10-13 October . One of the most anticipated rally events on the calendar, Rallylegend promises a spectacular show with 190 crews competing across both the rally stages and the Legend Stars category, attracting thousands of fans from across Europe to witness iconic cars and legendary drivers in action.
Francois Delecour to test IKE Racing’s rebuilt Peugeot 306 Maxi
The big news this year is the return of the famed Peugeot 306 Maxi to the rally stages, with rallying legend Francois Delecour behind the wheel. Rebuilt by IKE Racing – a team led by Andrea “Zippo” Zivian – the Peugeot 306 Maxi (chassis no. 90, formerly driven by David Salanon, winner of the 2010 and 2011 French Cup) will make its comeback at Rallylegend. Fans will get to see and hear this iconic machine roar again, boasting its original 300 horsepower that thrilled spectators years ago.
The return of this legendary car, part of the “Extreme Maxi” project, is a labour of love for Zivian, who is passionate about bringing back the spirit of the golden era of rallying. Delecour’s run in the 306 Maxi will revive its rivalry with another historic car in the IKE Racing stable – the Best Impreza McRae Edition no. 1 – driven by none other than Gustavo Trelles.
The “Extreme Maxi” project, which aims to restore and preserve iconic vehicles from rallying history, will be officially presented on Saturday, October 12 at 10:30 a.m. at the Rallylegend Village, the hub of the event.
Honouring champions of speed at Rallylegend
Rallylegend is not just about the cars but also the drivers who have left an indelible mark on motorsport history. This year’s Speed Legend event, hosted at the Sparco stand, will honour a line-up of racing royalty. On Saturday, October 12 at 11:30 a.m., legendary drivers such as Arturo Merzario, Jacky Ickx, Heikki Kovalainen, Dindo Capello, Romain Dumas, and MotoGP star Enea Bastianini will be celebrated for their contributions to the world of speed. The ceremony, hosted by Maddalena Corvaglia, will bring together champions from both track and rally, highlighting the shared passion and heritage of motorsport.
