Thierry Neuville’s iconic Bell helmet from the 2024 WRC FORUM8 Rally Japan, designed by celebrated Japanese artist Tadaomi Kawasaki, has set a new auction record, selling for an incredible £102,000, including premium. This open-faced HP10 Rally helmet, featuring safety fittings like HANS points, a tinted visor, and a microphone arm, showcased Kawasaki’s signature style alongside the branding of Hyundai, Red Bull, and other key sponsors.
The helmet, signed by Neuville post-rally, marks the culmination of a groundbreaking collaboration between the WRC star and Bonhams|Cars, which auctioned off a series of artistically designed helmets worn by Neuville throughout the season.

The Art Helmet project
This season, Neuville partnered with some of the world’s most renowned artists, including Frédéric Platéus, Thandiwe Muriu, Javier Toro Blum, and Tadaomi Kawasaki, for his “Art Helmet” project. Each helmet was worn during a specific rally and auctioned shortly after, with proceeds showcasing the fusion of motorsport and artistic creativity.
Neuville’s helmet journey began at the Monte Carlo Rally, where Frédéric Platéus’s design fetched £21,760. At the WRC Safari Rally Kenya, Thandiwe Muriu’s striking design also achieved £21,760, while Javier Toro Blum’s creation for the WRC Chile Rally sold for £15,360.
The grand finale, however, belonged to Tadaomi Kawasaki’s helmet, which not only celebrated Neuville’s 2024 WRC championship win but also captured the spirit of the Japan Rally. The bold artwork combined with Neuville’s stellar performance saw the helmet command a record-breaking price, reflecting the synergy between art and motorsport.
A stellar season for Neuville
Neuville’s 2024 campaign was nothing short of remarkable. Starting with a triumphant win at Monte Carlo, he delivered strong performances across the globe, culminating in a dominant victory at the Japan Rally. This secured his championship title and solidified his position as one of the WRC’s all-time greats.
Celebrating success
James Garguilo, Bonhams|Cars Automobilia Specialist, expressed his excitement about the collaboration: “Teaming up with Thierry Neuville has been an exhilarating journey.
