Former Kenyan National Rally Champions Lee Rose and Piers Daykin are ready for action when the series resumes with this weekend’s KCB Visa Card Rally which takes place in Kisumu City on Saturday 15 May.
Rose and Daykin won the recent KCB Safari Rally at the wheel of their Wladoil and Bellotto-supported Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX and in doing so joined a prestigious list of competitors who have won this internationally recognized event more than once. The pair overcame treacherously muddy conditions to end the three-day rally with a seven minute advantage over their rivals.
Spurred on by this fantastic result, Rose will be aiming high this weekend but admits to a bit of concern ahead of the rally: “The last time I attended the Kisumu Rally both Ian Duncan and myself refused to compete on safety grounds as the amount of traffic was ridiculous. I do know that the organizers have been working hard to get the event back into the national calendar and I only hope that their efforts are rewarded with a great event.”
The KCB Visa Card Rally is the third round of the 2010 Kenyan National Rally Championship and with one non-finish and one win Lee Rose is currently third in the championship standings. The series is currently headed by fellow Mitsubishi pilot Alistair Cavenagh with Subaru driver Baldev Chager second.
Lee Rose is supported by Wladoil Lubricants, producers of high quality racing lubricants and fuels, essential products in the high octane world of motor rallying.
